Major in the humanities

Sometimes online you'll see advice that says you need to go to college in a STEM field.  Otherwise you won't get a job.

This advice is both correct and utterly horrible.  Basically, it's saying "you need to build the life-support system for humanity," as if food, water, and shelter were all we needed.

Technology is the scaffolding for art.  Literally.  A painting by van Gogh isn't possible if textile mills don't exist to provide the canvas.

It is noble to be the people who make the canvas, yes, but if nobody paints, then it's pointless.

Please major in the humanities and then find a way to make it profitable.  Or figure out a way to make "profitability" not the end goal at all.  That'd be ideal.
